ERAF & Flood Damage Mitigation Incentives for Municipalities: Information Session
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

In October 2014, new rules will take effect regarding the percentage of State match funding provided to municipalities for emergency relief and assistance projects (ERAF). In order to maintain the current fifty percent State match rate, municipalities must adopt a local Hazards Mitigation Plan, a local Emergency Operations Plan, VT AOT Town Road and Bridge Codes and Standards, and take steps toward adoption of a basic flood hazard bylaw. If Municipalities choose not to pursue these measures the state portion of their local share in a Federally declared event will drop to 30%. Alternatively, Municipalities can choose to adopt measures beyond the required four mentioned for an increased rate of 70% for State match funds. To assist municipalities with understanding options and actions that can be taken to prepare, NVDA will host information sessions around the region. Selectmen, Road Commissioners, Town Administrative Staff and other officials are invited to learn about the new rules and NVDA’s assistance services, including a grant opportunity to update All Hazard Mitigation Plans.
