For 35 years, Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTACs) have helped expand the number of small businesses that successfully compete for and win federal, state, and local government contracts.

Vermont Department of Economic Development
Works with businesses to support the economic growth and vitality of the state through job creation and retention. Offers assistance in many areas and connects you with more contact sources. Office in Montpelier.

 

Vermont Department of Labor
VDOL's primary focus is to provide services that assist businesses, workers, and job seekers. Three divisions: the Division of Workers' Compensation and Safety, the Division of Workforce Development, and the Division of Unemployment Insurance and Wages. Main Office in Montpelier. Locally in Newport and St. Johnsbury.

Vermont Agency of Commerce & Community Development
Serves the Vermont public by enhancing the Vermont business climate, marketing Vermont to tourists and others, and strengthening Vermont communities in a wide variety of ways. Encompasses three major State Departments: Economic Development, Tourism and Marketing, and Housing and Community Affairs. Office in Montpelier.

 

Vermont Environmental Assistance Partnership
Serves as the initial state contact for applicants and assists them in identifying all necessary state permits or approvals for any given project. VEAP is a network of the VT Dept of Economic Development, the VT Dept of Environmental Conservation, the VT Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center (VMEC).

Vermont Small Business Development Center (VtSBDC)

Since 1992, the Vermont Small Business Development Center (VtSBDC) has provided no-cost professional expertise and guidance to hundreds of business owners. We combine one-on-one confidential advising with training programs to give our clients the tools and insight they need to reach their business goals.

 

St Johnsbury Development Fund
Organized in 1956, the fund promotes and increases the general welfare of the inhabitants of the Town of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, and of neighboring towns, by endeavoring to induce industrial, recreational, agricultural and other enterprises to locate or remain in said towns.

Northeast Employment & Training Organization, Inc.
Delivers educational and charitable programs to low-income Vermonters. Assistance with Weatherization, Residential Electrical Audit, and Home Energy Assistance. Offices in St. Johnsbury and Newport.

 

Vermont MicroBusiness Development Program
Assisting low and moderate income Vermonters to start and operate micro businesses. Operated through Northeast Kingdom Community Action (NEKCA) in St. Johnsbury.

 

Northeast Kingdom Community Action
A private nonprofit organization serving moderate-to-low income families in the Northeast Kingdom by providing workforce training and development and other community services. Also operates MicroBusiness Development Program.

Offices in Newport and St. Johnsbury.

 

Vermont Economic Development Authority
VEDA manages a wide range of low-cost customized lending programs for small and medium sized businesses. Office in Montpelier.

 

Vermont Council on Rural Development
A non-profit organization and a partnership of federal, state, local, non-profit and private partners dedicated to the support of the locally-defined progress of Vermont's rural communities. Office in Montpelier.

 

Vermont Rural Development, USDA
Helps households, communities, nonprofit agencies and small businesses in rural Vermont achieve their goals through creative financing and other forms of assistance. Office in Montpelier.

 

Northeastern Economic Development Association
Promotes economic and industrial development in the Northeastern region of the United States. Office in Wickford, RI.

 

BUZgate, Business Utility Zone Gateway
Provides direct access to free and low-cost resources specifically targeted to help individuals start, grow and succeed in business.

 

Rural Economic Development Loans
Provides loans to third-party recipients to finance projects that promote economic development and job creation in rural areas.

 

Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility
A member organization offering resources in three key areas: workplace quality, environmental quality and community involvement. Office in South Burlington.

 

Vermont Business Environmental Partnership
A voluntary environmental assistance and business recognition program, joining efforts of the public and private sectors, to achieve environmental and economic goals simultaneously.

 

Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center
A not-for-profit center that operates as a federal-state, public-private partnership to assist small and medium-sized manufacturers in Vermont. Main office in Randolph Center

 

Vermont World Trade Office

Vermont Business Roundtable
